DSU welcomes articles related to the scientific or applied aspects of Dentistry, e.g. original articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, review articles, clinical trials, case series/reports, letters to the editor, etc.
Submitted manuscripts are primarily allocated with a submission code and all the future contacts should be based on the code.
Authorship Responsibilities
Articles will not be published unless the author warrants that this article is an original work, has not been published previously, and is not being considered for publication elsewhere in its final form either in printed or electronic form'.
Authors are expected to consider carefully the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the definitive list of authors at the time of the original submission. Any addition, deletion or rearrangement of author names in the authorship list should be made only before the manuscript has been accepted and only if approved by the journal editor. To request such a change, the editor must receive the following from the corresponding author: (a) the reason for the change in author list and (b) written confirmation letter from all authors that they agree with the addition, removal or rearrangement.
The corresponding author takes primary responsibility for communication with the journal during the manuscript submission, peer review, and publication process, and typically ensures that all the journal’s administrative requirements, such as providing details of authorship, ethics committee approval, clinical trial registration documentation, and gathering conflict of interest statements, are properly completed. The corresponding author should respond to editorial queries throughout the submission and peer review process in a timely manner, and should cooperate with any requests from the journal after publication.
Registration and login are mandatory to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.
Review of Manuscripts
Manuscripts submitted to DSU which do not adhere to the author guidelines will be returned for appropriate revision to be in line with the instructions for authors. They may then be resubmitted. All manuscript properly submitted to DSU will first be reviewed by the editor. Then through a double-blind peer review, the articles will be reviewed.
Scientific and Initial Screening
The editorial team of DSUwould check the structure and content of manuscripts to ensure compliance with standard structures (based on the type of study), the aim and scope of the DSU, standard guidelines and adherence to ethical issues. In this step, articles would be screened in the shortest possible time. If all technical rules are met by the manuscript, the editorial Process begins. As a result, such triage would help the editor in making fair final decisions on articles and eventually improve the ultimate quality of published articles.
Covering Letter
The cover letter is important. Auther(s) should specify the importance of article for publishing in DSU.
Conflict of Interest
At submission, the authors must disclose any financial association that might pose a conflict of interest in connection with the submitted article in the title page.
Organisation of Manuscripts
The submission file must be prepared in Microsoft Word document file format. Submissions should be double-spaced word-processing files (.docx). The top, bottom and side margins should be 30 mm. All pages should be numbered consecutively in the bottom right-hand corner.
The manuscripts must have the following sections in separate word files:
I- Title page
II- Abstract
III- Article Body
IV- Copyright and author Contribution Form
V - Similarity check
I- Title page
Should be arranged as follows:
1. Title must be concise, descriptive, as short as possible without loss of clarity and without abbreviations 2. Full name of each author. 3. Affiliations of all authors 4. Name, full postal address, phone number, and e-mail address of author responsible for correspondence. Corresponding author will be responsible for proofreading. Also highlight the contribution of each author in the cover letter.
Note: The names and email addresses inserted in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other event.
5. Acknowledgements may contain all contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship e.g. editing help and departmental head who provided general support. Financial support must also be acknowledged and any conflict of interest noted.
II- Article Body
The submitted manuscript should contain:
1. Title (NO author names) 2. Abstract
Should include:
A summary of the complete manuscript containing introduction, materials or patients and methods, results, and conclusion. It must be factual and comprehensive. Write the abstract in past tense because the study has been completed.
The abstract should not be more than 300 words
Appropriate keywords, 3-6, in alphabetical order should be included at the end of the abstract.
3. Introduction, the introduction should briefly provide relevant background information in order to identify the gap in knowledge that the study is intended to address, the limitations of previous studies in the area and the latest advances. Finally, the author must clearly state the tested hypothesis and its scope. Authors should realize that this section of the paper is their primary opportunity to establish communication with the diverse readership of the DSU.
4. Materials and Methods: should describe the detailed description of the materials used and their components, the experimental design, the procedures employed, and the statistical tests used to analyze the results. The vast majority of manuscripts should cite prior studies using similar methods and succinctly describe the essential aspects used in the present study. The inclusion of a “methods figure” will be rejected unless the procedure is novel and requires an illustration for comprehension.
Ethical considerations should be mentioned here. Articles that require informed consent should acknowledge related statements in this section.
Human and Animal Rights:
All patients and volunteers in a research project should be carefully informed about the aims of the trial, nature of the procedure, and any possible side effects of the drugs/materials and interventions.
Written informed consent from the participants or their legal guardians is compulsory for any such studies. All patients who participated in the experimental investigation and subjects should be able to freely withdraw from the investigation any time.
If animals are used: a statement protocol approval by the institutional animal care and use committee must be included. All animal experiments should comply with the guidelines. Manuscripts may be rejected if the editor considers that the research has not been carried out within an appropriate ethical framework. In rare cases, the editor may contact the ethics committee for further information.
5. Results: Only experimental results are appropriate in this section (i.e., neither methods, discussion, nor conclusions should be in this section). Include only those data that are critical for the study, as defined by the aim(s). Do not include all available data without justification; any repetitive findings will be rejected from publication.
6. Figures (illustrations) and tables: must be numbered and cited in the text in order of appearance. Illustrations (electronic photographs/radiographs, CT scans, etc.) must be submitted as either a TIFF or JPEG and be at resolution of at least 300 dpi.
7. Tables are applicable when it is critical to present exact numeric values. However, not all results need be placed in either a table or figure. 8. Discussion: This section should be used to interpret and explain the results. Both the strengths and weaknesses of the observations should be discussed. How do these findings compare to the published literature? What are the clinical implications? Ideally, a review of the potential clinical significance is the last section of the discussion. What are the major conclusions of the study? How does the data support these conclusions? 9. Conclusions should describe and summarize the major finding(s) of the study. 10. References: All references must be cited in the text, using the Vancouver style (numbered style). References should be marked in order of appearance with superscript numbers in parenthesis in the text, and listed numerically in the reference list at the end of the article. Do not include unpublished data or personal communication in the reference list.
Provide complete information for each reference, including names of all authors (up to six). If the reference is a part of a book, also include the title of the chapter name/s of the book’s editor/s

Statistics
All manuscript selected for publication will be reviewed for the appropriateness and accuracy of the statistical methods used and the interpretation of statistical results. All papers submitted should provide in their “Materials and Methods” section a subsection detailing the statistical methods, including the specific method used to summarize the data, the methods used to test their hypothesis testing and (if any) the level of significance used for hypothesis testing.
III- Copyright and author Contribution Form
Authors should sign a copyright and author contribution form (URL) Copyright and author Contribution Form stated that the article is an original work, demonstrating every author role, has not been published before and is not being considered for publication elsewhere in its final form either in printed or electronic form. The same research must not be published in more than one journal.
IV- Similarity check:
